10 best places in Ontario, Canada
Taken from a thread on TravelPod’s forums about the best things in your country or region. Here is the list of my favourite places to go in Ontario.
1. Niagara Falls (itself, not the city)
Nothing prepares you for the thunderous noise the water makes as it hurls itself over the cliff – enough water per minute, to fill one million bath tubs! – Foreman
2. Toronto (the city, not the CN Tower)
We just thought it was a lovely quiet City! - Mrsdp
3. Ottawa (the canal system, not Parliament)
Throughout Winterlude there is skating on the canal, ice and snow sculptures in the parks, music, shows and even giant slides carved out the ice. - Danfa
4. Algonquin Park (amazing camping)
It was very peaceful and romantic doing a 5km walk at 8am with just each other and the wonderful backdrop nature provided. - Star-troupers
5. Canada’s Wonderland
Oh Wonderland… more rollercoasters than I have ever seen in my entire life! – Jingles
6. Wasaga Beach
After lunch we hire out a car and drive north towards Wasaga Beach afterwards theres a bit of a wild goose chase looking for Walters Falls – it turns out to be a town and not waterfalls as Ad previously thought! – Adeline
7. The Bruce Trail (along the Niagara Escarpment)
At this time of year, the maples are shedding their yellow and red leaves, while the cedars and pines are standing guard, keeping their green needle coats for the winter. – Hsb
8. Skating outside on the pond in the winter
I met so many nice people and it is so beautiful in winter. – Nadia0
9. Any beach or watersports on the Great Lakes
The route along the shoreline is majestic, fabulous rock formations all along the road which pictures just did not do credit to. – Rickanddonna
10. Any vineyards and microbreweries in southern Ontario
We tasted some delicious wine and were told what to smell and sense (I was quite proud of myself to find flavours on my own such as peat and walnut and oysters). - Lolly
