Here are Canada’s top tourist destinations, based on the number of visitors to each destnation:
1. Niagara Falls (12 million visitors)
We walked up to the top of the falls & went on the Journey Behind the Falls, which gets you behind the falls in tunnels to see the falls from a different perspective….so loud…and wet.
2. Harbourfront Centre, Toronto (12 million)
We finally made it to the harbor. We got our Canadian flags & pins & went on a hunt for food. The best we could do amongst the throng of people & booths were free samples of milk & Fibre1 bars. Groan. Read the rest of this entry »
A tourists guide to Toronto filmed in 2004. Take the bus tour, the river cruise, walk around chinatown or experience the views from the CN Tower.
Take a spectacular river trip on the ‘Maid of the Mist’… Just one of the highlights from your visit to Niagara Falls!
Summer vacation season is right around the corner, and nothing says summer like outdoor music festivals. Whether the music sounds better outside or the combination of fresh air and festival food just makes everything more fun, music festivals are popular from coast to coast. A handful of the biggest festivals are highlighted here to help you with your summer vacation planning.
Bonnaroo: Calling Bonnaroo a music festival is possibly the understatement of the year. The four-day event June 11-14 on a huge Manchester, Tennessee, farm invites people of all ages to camp on site and enjoy music, comedy and much more. All of this wrapped up in a mission of environmental sustainability. (There’s even a community garden this year.) But if you really are looking for music on your summer vacation, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Elvis Costello, Phish and Wilco are among the headliners. (Tip: Nashville is the closest airport, and the festival has organized shuttle service.)
Summerfest: More a marathon than a sprint, this Midwest favorite stretches over 11 days and features Read the rest of this entry »
Taken from a thread on TravelPod’s forums about the best things in your country or region. Here is the list of my favourite places to go in Ontario.
1. Niagara Falls (itself, not the city)
Nothing prepares you for the thunderous noise the water makes as it hurls itself over the cliff – enough water per minute, to fill one million bath tubs! – Foreman
2. Toronto (the city, not the CN Tower)
We just thought it was a lovely quiet City! - Mrsdp
3. Ottawa (the canal system, not Parliament)
Throughout Winterlude there is skating on the canal, ice and snow sculptures in the parks, music, shows and even giant slides carved out the ice. - Danfa Read the rest of this entry »
